Christmas 2009 & my 29th Birthday

Before Christmas, my holiday started with this:

And end up with having a gastric and minor hangover which I really regret. Lesson learned: Don't drink too much wine for the first time if you haven't drink alcohol for quite some time. Take it slow and steady!

On Christmas Day, I went to St Peter Clever Church to attend mass.

And end up with family and relatives gathering.

The night before my birthday, I open a bottle of champagne of Asti Martini and drink it with my family. We really like the taste of the champagne that I plan to buy it again when the opportunity arrived :D

Early morning of 28 December 2009, I went for an easy jog and walk at my Kampong Marakau's road which is still under construction. I want to have my own time to reflect back on my 29 years of living in this world. When I come back, my hair, my clothes and my shoes is full of dust and I can taste the dirt in my mouth . So much for having your own time during your birthday....wahahahaha!!!

But still I am content and thanks to God for I am still breathing and living a healthy and happy life until today. My feeling is just like the clear bright weather that morning with the sun shinning beautifully on the Mt Kinabalu.

Then, after that I'm busy cleaning my mother's bedroom & our old house.

That evening, I play with my dogs like I usually do everyday during my holiday. My dog, Tiger:

And I have a new puppy and I haven't give him a name yet. I think I'll give that privilege to my three (3) nephews.

Finally, I end my birthday with having a cup of Misai Kucing Tea which my mom plant it herself in the backyard. The tea has many good benefits for our body.

All in all, I have celebrated Christmas and my birthday in a way that I always home, with my dearest mom and with my family. Cheers to a blessed life ahead of us :D

My BIM 2009 Journey

You have to forget your last marathon before you try another. Your mind can't know what's coming. " - Frank Shorter

Yup! you're right there Frank Shorter! I have to forget the experience of running 21 km in the previous BIM 2008 before I endured another 21 km at BIM 2009.

It's all started with the Pasta Party the night before the race.

I have ate a lot of those delicious pasta, spaghetti, mini pizza, etc until I can feel my belly is 3 months pregnant. I'm hoping that those high-carbo foods will help me in my run the next day.

The Sabah Tourism have arranged a few local cultural performance especially for the runners from foreign country. They are the most sporting bunch of runners as they happily dancing with the performers.

The next morning, when I woke up around 3 am, there's no electricity on my house. Luckily, I already prepared my breakfast the night before. My usual breakfast preference for my running day would be brown rice with few slice of sausage and of course bananas. I'm having my pre-race breakfast under a romantic candle's light, thanks to the electricity ration that's been going for few nights already at my house's area.

Mother's love is worth more than everything

I didn't take picture on the starting of the race. Only after the race, I managed to take pictures of my happily and proud running buddies with their finisher medal. And I'm glad I'm there to share their joyous moment. Only those who have run the marathon know how great is the feeling after crossing the finish line.

My most precious picture of the day would be the one I took with the Kenyan runners. I saw them when I went to car park to pick some stuff from my car.

They are not running for themselves alone, but for their family, their people and their country. I have read few articles and stories in the internet and Runner's World Magazine about how they train for marathon and at the same time try to survive from their tribal war. And the prize money that they won usually go for their community and for their running expenses. Their amazing stories have shown to me that we can do anything in life if we really work hard for it even in a worst situation. For me, they are my idol and my inspiration in running.

Selamat Hari Merdeka Yang Ke-52!!!

"If I don't get to run, the world knows it. When I do run everything seems to go better. Running somehow, someway has a knack at making the bad things seem a little less bad and the good things a whole lot better. Who needs shrinks? Just lace 'em up and run. . ."

Satu Daerah Satu Industri (SDSI)

Satu Daerah Satu Industri (SDSI)....that's the name of the exhibition being held downstairs of my office. Every district have their own booth. Ranau is one of it.

Ranau Booth

I have recorded them playing the traditional music tools. As you can see in the video, their guitar is made from wood.

Another thing that interest me is the mushroom that they show and sell at Penampang booth. Their farm is situated at Kg Kaambazan, Kolopis Penampang. The mushroom is consists of two types:

Tiram Putih

cendawan putih

Tiram Kelabu

cendawan hitam

They only sell like RM1.30 each for the 'Bungkah Cendawan'. From the information i got from the farmer, you can put them anywhere whether inside your kitchen or outside your house, as long the place is cool and have open air. Within 10 days, you can have your own fresh mushrooms. And after that, they will grow again. Just pluck the mushroom, clean the opening, close it back with the plastic and wait for another 10 days. Interesting kan...

So I bought a few of them. Hehe!!!

The SDSI exhibition will be held until this Sunday (21 June, 2009) at Sabah Trade Centre. There's more to see beside the mushroom. So guys, what are you waiting for. Come and support our local industry! Can't wait to harvest my own fresh mushrooms at home :D

Manikar Beach Resort, Labuan

Recently I went to Labuan for half day working trip. Turn into one whole day when something happen later that day.

My first time to go on board the MASwings on my outbound journey to Labuan. This small plane got this 2 huge fans on the left and the right. I'm like this school girl who in her first time boarded this kind of plane. Haha!

mas wings

Later, I thought my heart just drop into the sea when the plane dropping up and down like nobody business. It's raining and there so many clouds that time. Worst, the person sitting beside me is snoring while I'm praying hard for my life. If the stewardess was not looking, I would record him snoring with my camera. Hehehe!!!

labuan map

The Labuan War Cemetery and the Marine Museum. Those are the two places that I would like to visit someday.

love the ceiling (labuan airport)

I supposed to fly back to KK in the afternoon but because of the continuous bad weather since morning, my flight has been delayed until night. I have no idea what I'm going to do while waiting for my next flight. Since it's raining cats and dogs, sightseeing is out of question. Luckily I meet these few businessman from KL. They inform me that the MAS should provide us with hotel, return taxi to hotel and meals. I thought I only have to claim for my meals. When they claim theirs, I also claim mine. At least I can sleep at the hotel while waiting for my next flight. The MAS gave us Manikar Beach Resort.

front manikar
the reception area

From there, my small adventure start in exploring the resort. Starting from the room and finally to the beach. The room is not bad at all. Only its lack of toiletry facility for such a known resort. And some of the lamp switch is not functioning. But the balcony have such a nice view of the sea. I'm so exciting to go to the beach till i forget to take picture of the view from my room's balcony. Damn!!!

I think the resort's landscape need to reconstruct. Maybe put some light and colorful flowers. Hehe!!!

Nobody at the outside of the restaurant. Sure everybody is inside because of the lousy weather. But for me, the weather is a blessing. A blessing that give me opportunity to explore the resort even though only for a few hours.

eating area

The resort looks like the deserted resort because it looks quiet and spooky. Seem like only few of us there. You only can hear the sounds of the strong wind and the wave from the sea.

silent resort

But the beach have a nice view if not of the dark cloudy weather. With the strong wind and the rough sea, it sure take your breath away.

the sea

I even record the beautiful combination sound of the strong wind and the rough sea.

Can play volleyball on the beach.

And football also.

The exotic bar in the middle of the resort.

The trees blew by the wind.

The swimming pool.

A place where you can relax while enjoying the sea view.

Then, me with the rough sea behind me. Seems like my self-taking picture become a habit nowadays. I say this habit is quite useful when there is nobody around to take your picture. Or nobody want to take your picture. Right Jen??? Hahaha!

And of course not forgotten my precious souvenir all the way from Labuan. This will not classify you as a drinker - drink responsibly! Hehe!!!

(One taste and I'm sure you'll want another sip :D)

So next time if your flight is delay, maybe something good will come out from it. Just cross your finger ;o)
